There are so many great parks in Los Angeles. Echo Park has not always been a clean, safe park. In the last several years the city has made great strides in improving public spaces. I had driven by Echo Park many times until I moved to Silverlake. After moving closer, I found that I liked both the peacefulness of the lake and the variety of activity happening at the lake. The iconic lake with fountain is even more enjoyable if you rent a paddle boat from the boat house and paddle around the lake with the spray of the fountain and the beautiful lilies and water fowl.
You will see morning exercisers, mom’s and strollers, teenagers and retirees walking around the lake. In the north end on the weekends there are street vendors with hot dogs and ice cream for sale. It is a wonderful park with the city sky scrapers in the background.
