28…The Museums: California Science Center

Having raise my two children in Los Angeles, we’ve been to the California Science Center more than once.  But my favorite exhibit at the Science Center is the The Endeavor Space Shuttle.  Not because I am big NASA fan – but because of the amazing feat that occurred in 2012, transporting the shuttle the 12-miles through Los Angeles from LAX to the Science Center.  It was quite a spectacle and drew huge crowds.

The shuttle is still seen by reservation only at the Science Center.  Watch the time lapse video by the LA Times and then go see the shuttle yourself.  It is a remarkable achievement.

Moving Endeavour isn’t like transporting a house on a flatbed truck. It’s more like hauling a five-story apartment building across L.A. — a unique job that will cost the science center millions of dollars.
